David Yancey
I build software, write stories, and look for clearer ways to understand complicated systems—whether those systems are made of technology, people, or ideas.
My background spans software development, architecture, DevOps, cloud technologies, and technical leadership. I previously worked at Microsoft and have spent much of my career working with enterprise software and large-scale technology environments.
Today, I am the founder and owner of Prima Facie Technologies, where I lead product strategy, architecture, product design, software development, and deployment.

Two expressions of the same way of thinking
Technology and writing are two different expressions of the same part of how I think.
In technology, I take complicated systems apart, understand how the pieces relate, and find ways to make them clearer and more useful. Writing works much the same way, except the systems are people, relationships, emotions, and ideas.
Both require curiosity, structure, empathy, and an understanding of what exists beneath the surface.
My technical work focuses on making complex systems easier to understand and use. My fiction and nonfiction explore people, decisions, and the consequences that emerge from them.

I am a father based in Texas. Outside of technology and writing, my interests include books, cigars, whiskey, wine, and food.
